Chaos at the Republican convention

I read in the news paper that protester were smashing windows and were blocking traffic. Is it really necessary for people to vandalise other peoples cars or smashing windows just because they are protesting the Republican convention? I don't think so, if your going to protest something keep it peaceful so no one gets hurt or worse die! Even if they don't agree with the Republicans just make your point and leave.

You are correct, why can't they do it peacefully?

I look at it like even if they protest/march what point are they getting across? There are those who think the only way to get a point across is to vandalize, actions speak louder than words, or so they think.

Well they will have time to think about it alright facing those felony charges.

I try to stay away from anything west of Hwy 52 for the next week!

Did those people really think about how people are gonna see how they will be portraid. I mean how many people are seriously look at what your trying to do if your being so neglagent. All in all they are just hurting their own thoughts and outlooks on how the portrait the goverment.

That is true that we can protest, but it depents on the way we do it, we dont need to violent people, and their belongings.
Also, we want peace, that mean we need to make peace first.

It is more about protesting the war in Iraq then protesting the
Republican party itslf. They blame the Republican party for starting the war and supporting the war.It took some democrats to support the war for it to even happen.

This goes back to the "actions speak louder then words" I feel this does nothing but hurt the democratic party. I've heard lots about people carrying guns and rumors of people throwing thumb tacks on 94 and what not. This is all just super rediculous. Say someone was hindering between where to vote and they see people (democratic or not) carrying out violent acts, its going to persuade others away. People need to stand up and persuade others with words, through something else. Possibly something smaller, organized groups, or like the discussion we had today. Classroom discussions. All these things help, people need to stop rushing to leave the biggest effect by destroying things and being threatening, starting small and persuading people one by one or even 5 to 10 at a time in small groups will spread much more and do so much more then sitting in a convention trying to protest or breaking things. Although I still feel no one is really wrong here (besides the people who committed those violent acts) I feel people are too quick to try to persuade large groups rather than starting at the root. People need to take a step back and take another look at what they are doing, re evaluate if their actions are childish or not, persuade those that simply "do not care" because that will have a much larger effect.

I believe that people should speak their minds but i think they should do it in a positive way. I am watching the news right now and they are showing children at the protest. I think people should speak with words and not actions.

I agree because there is no point in taking out your anger on other peoples work or property. Its just not fair.

I agree completely there is no reason for them to take there anger out on people that have nothing to do with the subject they are protesting about. I say that because of these people doing this, the police should have revoked all licenses to protest too keep everyone in that area safe. Some might say that that is too extreme, but I say that the protesters went to the extreme, so why couldn't the police within the law?
